This book contains a collection of articles dealing with aviation communication from a practical as well as a theoretical perspective. The book substantiates and prospectively encourages an exchange between pilots, air traffic controllers, (language) trainers and researchers, i.e. an exchange between theory and practice.

Silvia Hansen-Schirra and Karin Maksymski work at the translation department of the Mainz University in Germersheim (Germany). They were responsible for a research project in which aviation communication was investigated on the basis of linguistically annotated corpora.
