Since 2006 the annual conference Hamburg International Conference of Logistics (HICL) at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is dedicated to facilitate the exchange of ideas and contribute to the improved understanding and practice of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. HICL provides a creative environment, which attracts researchers and practitioners from all over the world. This volume contains research contributions by an international group of authors addressing innovative and technology-based approaches for logistics and supply chains. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Carlos Jahn, Jahrgang 1966, ist Leiter des Instituts für Maritime Logistik der Technischen Universität Hamburg und in Personalunion Leiter des Fraunhofer-Centers für Maritime Logistik und Dienstleistungen in Hamburg. Seinen beruflichen Werdegang begann Carlos Jahn als Matrose und später als Offizier in der Bundesmarine. Er studierte Maschinenbau an der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität in Hamburg und Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Fernuniversität Hagen. Anschließend promovierte er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter des Fraunhofer IFF an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg.
