Beschreibung
With 'Transparency: Literal and Phenomenal' (1955), Colin Rowe and Robert Slutzky composed one of the most influential essays of 20th Century architectural theory. In 1968, the German edition of part I was published. Now, for the first time ever, Part II is being presented in German. The translation by Tom Steinert shows that the polemic of the first part - which was so bound to its moment, in the context of the birth of modernist criticism - is overcome in the second part. 'Transparency, Part II' offers the necessary supplement, without which the concept of phenomenal transparency and its historical position would remain fragmentary and unsatisfactory. A detailed commentary from the editor recontextualizes the essay on the basis of the outcomes of new research.
