In this book the life of Heinrich Hertz (1857-1894), born in Hamburg, his contributions to physics and his philosophy of science are presented. In addition the impact of the discovery of electromagnetic waves, the development of communication technology, is discussed - the beginnings of radio, radar, radio astronomy, electronic music and mobile phone.
