'Visions of a Future Germany: Alternatives to the Paulskirche Constitution of 1848/49' The study is based on a hundred pamphlets and petitions, written between March 1848 and May 1849. Drawn up by people from all walks of life, they present individual visions of constitutional construction or comment the official constitutional documents around the Paulskirche. The four constitutional models emerging from their collective visions of a future Germany preform the major political currents which left their impact on the country for another hundred years.

Horst Dippel war bis 2009 Professor für British and American Studies an der Universität Kassel. Sein Forschungsschwerpunkt ist die amerikanisch-westeuropäische Verfassungsgeschichte, 18.-20. Jh., zu der er u.a. die 'Constitutions of the World from the Late 18th Century to the Middle of the 19th Century' in 33 Bänden (2005-2014) herausgegeben hat. Seine 'Geschichte der USA' erschien 2015 in 10. Auflage.
